World Health Organization's 72nd session of the World Health Assembly
RTI staff members Rachel Nugent, vice president, Global Non-communicable Diseases, International Development Group, and Ishu Kataria, RTI International India, will be attending the World Health Organization’s (WHO) 72nd session of World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva, Switzerland. They will represent RTI in the Global Health Council delegation, an official non-state actor in official relation with the WHO.
Each year, senior health officials from Member States of the WHO travel to Geneva to participate in the WHA. At WHA, WHO's work is reviewed, new goals are set and new tasks are assigned. Some of the main functions of the WHA are to determine the policies of WHO, appoint the Director-General, supervise financial policies and review and approve the proposed program budget. This year’s WHA will take place from May 20 - 28, 2019.

- May 20: Putting Patients with Multiple Chronic Conditions at the Heart of UHC, hosted by Teva Pharmaceuticals and Phillips Healthcare
- May 22: Institutional Support for Social Accountability in Health: The Role of Government in Welcoming the Voice of the People - hosted by PMNCH, Core Group, Every Woman Every Child (EWEC), the UN Secretary General’s Independent Accountability Panel (IAP), The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), Save the Children, White Ribbon Alliance (WRA), World Vision International (WVI)
- May 24: The Role of Next Generation in Addressing Noncommunicable Diseases: Delivering Effective Collaboration and Meaningful Participation, hosted by UN Major Group for Children and Youth
RTI is a member of the Global Health Council, a membership organization that supports and connects advocates, implementers, and stakeholders around global health priorities worldwide. The Global Health Council is one the 217 non-State actors in official relations with WHO.
