New Features of SUDAAN 10

SUDAAN 10 marks the birth of a new area of expertise—SUDAAN is no longer just an “analysis” tool. New features in SUDAAN 10 include two new pre-analysis procedures as well as various enhancements to existing procedures. Specific enhancements introduced in Release 10 include

  • A new WTADJUST procedure provides model-based nonresponse and poststratification weight adjustments that calibrates weight sums to desired control totals. An option is available that enables users to trim weights before any weight adjustment is computed.
  • A new HOTDECK procedure provides users with imputed data using the Cox-Iannacchione Weighted Sequential Hot Deck method.
  • A new memory manager enables users to efficiently process very large data sets.
  • All printed output can be requested in either ASCII or RTF format.
  • A new option in most of SUDAAN’s modeling procedures allows users to estimate exponentiated contrasts of model parameters. This option is particularly useful for estimating user-specified odds ratios, incidence density ratios, and hazard ratios in models involving both main effects and interaction terms.
  • Additional hypothesis tests and test statistics (analogous to the regression procedures) have been added to SUDAAN’s cross-tabulation procedure. This includes hypothesis tests for trends and the ANOVA-type alternative in two-way and stratified two-way tables and a goodness-of-fit test against known proportions.
  • New options in SUDAAN’s logistic and multinomial logistic procedures allow users to request model-adjusted risks, risk differences, and risk ratios and their standard errors and confidence limits.
  • An enhanced method of computing confidence intervals for quantiles has been included in SUDAAN’s descriptive procedure.
  • A new method for computing confidence intervals for extreme percentages is available in SUDAAN’s cross-tabulation procedure.

Please note

  • SUDAAN 10 can be used with PCs operating under Windows 2000 and Windows XP. SUDAAN10 is also available for SUN/Solaris and Linux.
  • SUDAAN 10 has not been tested on Windows Vista.
  • SUDAAN now offers licenses for 32 bit and 64 bit operating systems.
  • SUDAAN 10 for the 64 bit operating system is available as SAS-Callable or Command Prompt.
  • SUDAAN 10 can be used with PCs operating under Windows 2000 and Windows XP.  SUDAAN 10 is also available for SUN/Solaris x64 bit and Linux x32 bit.

As always, we are interested in any comments and questions you have about SUDAAN, including your experiences with these new enhancements. Please send all comments and questions to sudaan@rti.org.
