Beginning with Release 7.5, standalone SUDAAN can read versions 5.x, 6.x, and 7.x SPSS Windows data sets. Beginning with Release 8, standalone PC versions of SUDAAN can also write SPSS Windows data sets. No documentation files are required, although SUDAAN allows you to supply a LEVEL FILE for labeling the levels of categorical variables. Indicate to SUDAAN that your input or output data is a SPSS data set by using the FILETYPE=SPSS parameter on the PROC and OUTPUT statements.
