Holistic Solid Waste Decision Making

The World Bank's solid waste thematic group is faced with increasingly complex issues in supporting local governments of its member countries, particularly in regarding trade-offs among technical options.
We are applying our solid waste decision support tool (MSW-DST) to assist the Bank and the prime contractor, Nippon, in the analysis of cost and environmental aspects of alternative solid waste management options in member countries. We will input data collected by Nippon into the MSW-DST and analyze scenarios. The findings from this study will help the World Bank guide solid waste management policy and underpin technology recommendations for member countries.
