Quality Manuals
RTI can help clients write a quality manual that meets the requirements of a variety of different quality management standards, including ISO 9001 standards for quality management systems, ISO 17025 requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories, and ANSI/ASQC E4-1994 standards for environmental data collection and environmental technology. RTI also is highly experienced at developing quality management plans that satisfy U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements for organizations that collect environmental data to be used by EPA.

Standard Operating Procedures
RTI has more than 10 years of experience preparing SOPs supporting environmental, health, and information-gathering efforts and according to EPA publication QA/G-6, Guidance for Preparing Standard Operating Procedures. The variety of our SOP activities include the following: establishing and maintaining a legal chain-of-custody for samples; procurement and acceptance of scientific materials and devices; sample receiving, shipment, and archiving for time- and temperature-sensitive samples; quality assurance review of data sets from ambient and human exposure studies; arranging and conducting national scientific meetings and their results; scientific, computer-based handling and transfer of data sets to national databases; laboratory and field site inspections and reviews; and project management and reporting.

Quality Systems Assessments
RTI has more than 30 years of experience planning and conducting third-party assessments for government and industry. RTI assessors combine practical experience in planning and implementing quality systems, expertise in assessment principles and practices, and excellent communication skills. We are fair and professional, maintaining independence and integrity that support the credibility of the results. We prepare reports with findings that address quality system elements crucial to the quality of an organization's work and that can be tied directly to observations and documentary evidence.

Quality Assurance Training and Workshops
RTI quality experts design and conduct training workshops on a variety of environmental measurements and QA topics. Our scientists have prepared and presented training on the following subjects: systematic planning of environmental data operations using DQOs; site selection and assessment for ambient air monitoring, sampling protocols, sampler operation, maintenance, and QA; development of QAPPs for environmental data operations, environmental modeling, and geospatial data projects; hands-on workshops on the latest instruments for air measurements; data validation training for those who ensure the quality of data sets; and data quality assessments to help project managers, scientists, and engineers evaluate their results.
