Information and Communication Technology: Applications

Useful and dynamic content and services

Content must be current, relevant, and valuable to users, and services must meet user needs. RTI promotes useful content and services by empowering communities to contribute and share content through dynamic member-maintained Web sites. For example,

  • In Indonesia, we helped the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to establish a new member-services Web site that enables ASEAN to maintain and disseminate content easily. We assisted the ASEAN Regional Forum in creating a Web site (www.aseanregionalforum.org) that facilitates communication among member states.
  • In Ukraine, we helped the Association of Ukrainian Cities (www.auc.org.ua) connect members of an all-Ukrainian nongovernmental organization. This organization unites about 400 cities that contain more than 85% of Ukraine’s urban population.
  • In El Salvador, we helped the Corporación de Municipalidades de la República de El Salvador (www.comures.org.sv) establish Web services that enable municipalities to share information and experiences.
  • In Africa, we helped create the Dialogue on Democratic Decentralization as an African forum to promote discussion among champions of democratic decentralization of local government.
