Biography
Hernan Navarro is director of pharmacology and toxicology in chemistry and life sciences. He has over 20 years of experience in CNS pharmacology, with research ranging from the effects of in utero exposure to cholinomimetics on offspring brain and immune function development to the in vitro and in vivo characterization of radioligands and the pharmacological characterization of novel orthosteric or allosteric CNS-active compounds. He has extensive experience with cell culture and in vitro assay techniques such as FLIPR, 96-well-based phenotypic assays, radioligand binding, and synaptosomal uptake or release of radiolabeled compounds. Dr. Navarro also has experience with neurobehavioral techniques such as Morris water maze, locomotor activity, and auditory startle. He is currently interested in establishing non-mammalian behavioral assays for use in drug discovery and toxicology.
