Social, Statistical, and Environmental Sciences (SSES) designs and conducts complex national surveys as well as economic, statistical, epidemiological, and social policy research for government agencies and commercial clients across the areas of health, environment, education, and justice. More than 1450 staff members work on projects for U.S. government agencies such as the Department of Justice, Department of Health and Human Services (including the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Food and Drug Administration, National Institutes of Health, and Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration), Department of Education, Department of Homeland Security, and Environmental Protection Agency.

The International Development Group (IDG) offers a range of policy and decision support, applied research and analysis, and other technical expertise in strategic planning, institutional development, performance management, information systems, training, and evidence-based solutions for local health impact. More than 200 staff members conduct international programs that help to build human and institutional capacity and promote sustainable economic, technical, and social development and understanding around the world. Principal clients include the U.S. Agency for International Development, The World Bank, Asian Development Bank, International Finance Corporation, and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Executive Vice President (Interim)
Discovery and Analytical Sciences (DAS) conducts a wide range of research in the life sciences, with an emphasis on programs in human health and pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and the environment. With approximately 250 staff members and state-of-the-art laboratories and instrumentation, DAS performs research under contracts and grants funded by the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, Environmental Protection Agency, National Institute of Justice, and other federal clients. DAS also conducts research and laboratory services on behalf of a wide range of commercial clients, including pharmaceutical and commodity chemical manufacturers.

The mission of the Engineering and Technology Unit (ETU) is to move high-impact technologies from the bench toward commercial practice. ETU helps clients achieve their goals by identifying, developing, applying, and transferring leading-edge technologies. Approximately 170 staff members have expertise spanning many key markets, including energy, health, environment, and electronics. ETU has the proven capability to successfully execute early- and late-stage R&D programs, and to lead programs from initial R&D to prototyping to commercialization. ETU conducts research on behalf of or co-funded with the U.S. Department of Energy, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, and other federal clients, as well as commercial clients of all sizes.

Executive Vice President
A business unit of RTI International, RTI Health Solutions (RTI-HS) provides consulting and research expertise to help pharmaceutical, biotechnology, diagnostics, and medical device companies develop and gain market access for their products. RTI-HS researchers include experts in health economics, patient-reported outcomes, market access and outcomes strategy, health preference assessment, epidemiology, biometrics, drug safety and pharmacovigilance, and clinical development. RTI-HS teams design and implement research programs customized to meet each client's specific needs. In addition to study design, conduct, and analysis, RTI-HS also implements communication strategies, including publications in peer-reviewed journals and poster, podium, and workshop presentations at professional conferences.
