The personalized medicine field presents a new paradigm in healthcare and the treatment of disease. North Carolina has a number of leaders in this emerging field – represented by researchers and scientists at its preeminent universities, laboratories and research institutes, as well as its biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Among the subjects to be explored by a field of local, national and international experts will be a concept gaining momentum called "P4," which uses treatment tools that are "Predictive, Preventive, Personalized, and Participatory."
