Integrated Control of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs): What Determines Success, Potential for Scale-Up, and Sustainability?

Approximately one billion people suffer from one or more neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), which disproportionately affect poor and rural populations. These diseases cause illness, disfigurement, and disability, and compromise children's mental and physical development.

Experts from RTI and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) discussed lessons learned from the most effective integrated NTD control programs at a forum on May 19, 2009, at the Newseum in Washington, D.C.

For more information, see the NTD Control Program Web site.
