In Egypt, equality for girls means improved education for all

In Upper Egypt's rural areas, girls commonly drop out of school at a young age because of their duties at home, the harassment they encounter, and communities that discourage girls from continuing at school past puberty. But because of the U.S. Agency for International Development's Girls' Improved Learning Outcomes (GILO) project, more girls can attend school and education quality is higher for all students. GILO trains teachers and administrators, encourages community education and involvement, improves infrastructure, and collaborates closely with the Ministry of Education.
