Small Business Concerns

At RTI International, we are committed to fairness and inclusion in our purchasing practices. We recognize the importance of supplier diversity for our business and for the communities in which we live and work. A premier supplier diversity program enhances our ability to provide value to our clients. It can also foster economic growth in our communities. Our supplier diversity program is designed to engage the best suppliers who provide cross-cultural competence and valuable perspectives necessary to serve our clients. RTI engages and empowers staff at all levels of the Institute and across all disciplines to embrace and expand utilization of small, small-disadvantaged, small woman-owned, veteran-owned, service-disabled veteran-owned, Alaska Native Corporations and Indian Tribes, and HubZone businesses. In addition, consideration is afforded to historically black colleges, universities, and minority institutions to compete for subcontracts and purchase-order opportunities at RTI.

Thank you for your interest in working with RTI International. The heart of our supplier diversity strategy entails the identification of project partners and strategic suppliers in the early stages of our business development process. Therefore, all prospective small business concerns must be able and ready to play a key collaborator role throughout the proposal development and the delivery of services to our internal or external customers.

Our policy is to award orders or subcontracts to small businesses concerns if all things, including price and delivery, are equal or more favorable. We also provide small business subcontracting plans to our clients when subcontracting possibilities have been identified during our business development process.

RTI welcomes the following types of potential project partners:

  • Small Business (SB) Concerns
  • Small Disadvantaged Businesses (SDBs), including Minority-owned Asian American, Hispanic American, Black American, Native American-owned SBs
  • Certified 8(a) SDBs
  • Certified Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) SBs
  • Woman-Owned Small Businesses (WOSBs)
  • Veteran (VOSBs) and Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs)
  • Alaska Native Corporations (ANCs) and Indian Tribes (ITs)

Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization Corporate Commitment

RTI is committed to complying with federal, state, and local governments' small and disadvantaged business utilization laws by providing small businesses the "maximum practicable opportunity" to compete for subcontracts awarded by RTI under our government-sponsored prime or subcontracts. Further, the intent of Public Law 95-507 and FAR 52.219-9 and other laws pertinent to small business utilization will be observed in RTI’s procurements within the context of the economy, good business practice, and the best overall value to our client. This commitment is consistent with RTI’s Supplier Diversity Policy, which is committed to fair and open business practices.
