Solid-State Nucleonics
We are developing designer radioisotopes to enable solid-state micro isotope power sources (MIPS). We design such radioisotopes from first-principle calculations and with detailed knowledge of the various nuclear radioisotope processes. Such approaches are also applicable in other areas where radioisotopes are used. In a synergistic and related area, we are also developing novel low-level nuclear radiation detectors using nanoscale structures in solid-state materials to detect radioisotope materials with implications for nuclear safety.
