Leading-Edge Technologies
We develop specialized computing technologies to meet the particular needs of a project or research area. Beyond these initiatives, internal research and development efforts, funded by RTI rather than in response to an existing project, are focused on specific technological areas that hold promise for future research endeavors.
For example, advances in mobile computing using Pocket PCs facilitate the collection of data in the SAMHSA-supported National Survey on Drug Use and Health. In addition, both Palm and Pocket PC technologies were adapted for ongoing data collection activities in foreign countries in multiple languages as part of the innovative Community Public Opinion Leaders study.
Our approach — for mobile computing and other technologies as well — is to anticipate the technological need, perfect research and development, and supply the leading-edge technology to solve a research challenge. Continuing development of these leading-edge capabilities adds value to our core information technology portfolio.
