RTI International supports education development around the world by using evidence-based approaches to strengthen education policy, management, and practice to achieve measurable improvement in education quality and, ultimately, learning outcomes.
From our well-established expertise in strengthening education systems to our innovative work in assessing and improving early grade reading outcomes, we are improving education quality, relevance, and efficiency at every level – from classrooms to national ministries as well as through contribution to international exchange and scientific and professional publication.
RTI's International Education Division, led by Melinda Taylor, is working in more than 20 countries around the world. Our work is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development, the U.K. Department for International Development, The Australian Government's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Asian Development Bank, private funders and clients, as well as by RTI itself.
Teaching and Learning
Our Teaching and Learning Program, led by Dr. Amber Gove, provides expertise in assessment and monitoring of student learning outcomes, curriculum and materials design, and teacher training and capacity building. Our approaches to measurable teaching and learning improvement promote equitable and universal access to quality education, regardless of gender, socioeconomic status, and physical or cognitive barriers. Our Education Evaluation Program, led by Amy Mulcahy-Dunn, applies assessment and survey expertise to inform the design and monitor the implementation of our teaching and learning work, and help national and local governments, as well as the donor community, measure everything from the state-of-learning and management in schools to the impact household and external factors have on education. The Policy, Systems, and Governance Program, led by Joe DeStefano, brings expertise in education data systems, finance, accountability, decentralization, budget, planning, and management to bear on the challenges faced in helping governments implement national strategies for improving education. The Information and Communications Technology Program, led by Carmen Strigel, works with local partners to design, implement, and evaluate education and training strategies that use ICT to support management, administration, governance, and quality of education at all levels of the education system.
