Carbon Mitigation

Removing CO2 from post-combustion coal flue gas

Our energy researchers are working to reduce carbon emissions from energy production and use. We are developing technologies for capturing carbon emissions from fossil fuels used in electricity and syngas production, and we are and exploring options for obtaining clean energy through gasification of agricultural waste and other biomass.

We are applying our novel thermoelectric material to boost the energy efficiency of automobiles and reduce the amount of heat produced by computer systems, thereby lowering carbon emissions. Our work in solid-state lighting has the potential to reduce worldwide carbon emissions by reducing electricity consumption.
