RTI Earns Sixth Place on NC Magazine's 2009 'Best Employers' List

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.—RTI International was recently named as one of the "Best Employers in North Carolina," ranking sixth on NC Magazine's "Best Employers 2009" list.

RTI was among 10 companies selected for the award, which was created this year to identify and recognize the best places of employment in the state of North Carolina, and to honor those employers for benefiting the state's economy, workforce and businesses.

The award is sponsored by the North Carolina Chamber, NC Magazine, the North Carolina Society for Human Resource Management–State Council, and Best Companies Group.

"The key to our success is the quality of our people," said Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Corporate Affairs Lorena Clark. "We have an organizational culture and compensation and benefits program that attracts highly qualified people, and we provide them with the tools and environment that allows them to reach their personal and professional goals."

Among the employee benefits for which RTI was recognized were a 403b retirement savings program, an Employee Assistance Program, flexible spending accounts, tuition reimbursement and an onsite childcare facility. Other noted perks included the onsite cafeteria and recycling and waste reduction programs.

Clark said that while she is pleased to see RTI's efforts recognized publicly, there is still room for improvement in the competitive marketplace in which RTI competes for the best employees.

Best Companies Group, a nationally recognized organization focused on recognizing workplace excellence, was selected by NC Magazine to manage the registration, survey and analysis process and to determine the final rankings.

The group used a questionnaire completed by employers pertaining to policies and benefits and a survey completed by employees concerning satisfaction and engagement.

The ten best employers all offer a wide range of benefits, some type of tuition reimbursement, recycling programs and additional perks related to food and beverage services.
