RTI President Victoria Haynes Named 2009 'Citizen of the World'

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.—The International Affairs Council has named Victoria Franchetti Haynes, president and chief executive officer of RTI International, its 2009 "Citizen of the World."

The International Affairs Council is a community-based organization in the Research Triangle region comprising more than 2,000 professionals and 400 member organizations that promotes understanding of world affairs and culture.

The "Citizen of the World" honor is bestowed each year on the North Carolinian who has contributed most substantially to the internationalization of our state.

Haynes was recognized for her and RTI's commitment to improving the human condition while simultaneously expanding North Carolina's global reach.

"I am honored and humbled to receive this award on behalf of RTI," Haynes said. "This award reflects the dedication and hard work of hundreds of staff members around the globe who each day are having a positive influence in the world."

In receiving this honor, Haynes joins a list of North Carolina leaders that includes former Governors Jim Hunt and Terry Sanford as well as SAS Chief Executive Officer Jim Goodnight.

The award will be presented to Haynes at a fall dinner event, date and location to be determined.
