Katherine Treiman

Senior Research Scientist

Katherine A. Treiman, PhD, MPH, is a senior research scientist with more than 20 years' experience in health communication research and program development and evaluation. Her research interests include patient-centered care and communication, patient engagement in health care, patient safety, and applications of health to support patient engagement. She has designed and implemented research protocols for the National Cancer Institute, the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT, and other groups. Dr. Treiman is currently conducting research to develop approaches to measuring patient-centered communication in cancer care and studies to explore cancer patients' experiences with care, and is leading a project on use of electronic health records to promote patient and family engagement in health care. Dr. Treiman has developed numerous process and outcome evaluations and is experienced in developing and analyzing data from both quantitative and qualitative health communication studies.
