Diane K. Wagener
Senior Epidemiologist
Diane K. Wagener, PhD, has more than 36 years of experience in academic and governmental institutions. She is a senior epidemiologist in the Genomics, Statistical Genetics, and Environmental Research Program at RTI with expertise in genomics, epidemiologic studies and population-based surveys, and data analysis systems. Before RTI, she was the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services principal statistical advisor for the Healthy People initiative. As director of the Division of Health Promotion Statistics at CDC and later in the Office of Public Health and Science of the Assistant Secretary of Health, Dr. Wagener coordinated data analysis from more than 200 systems to monitor national and state progress, inform policy decisions, and identify national data needs. At RTI, she has led studies modeling infectious disease spread, population genomics of vaccination response, risk perception in family members of patients with genetic conditions, and long-term health effects in children living in FEMA trailers after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
