RTI International Earns 2008 Environmental Business Journal Achievement Award
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.—RTI International's efforts to help the Emirate of Abu Dhabi establish a world-class environmental protection agency has earned it a silver achievement medal in the international business category from the Environmental Business Journal.
Under the terms of the agreement, RTI will provide a wide range of technical and management support for activities. Working alongside their counterparts in Abu Dhabi, RTI staff members will help develop processes to evaluate environmental studies, conduct risk assessments and establish compliance and monitoring programs for the transportation, development, and industrial sectors.
RTI aims to transfer 50 percent of its environmental services and expertise to local nationals of the United Arab Emirates within five years.
Since the 1970s, RTI has supported the U.S. federal government's environmental programs with research, analysis and decision-support services as well as a wide range of technical services in areas including air quality measurement and environmental resource management.
The award recipients were determined by a committee of Environmental Business Journal staff and editorial advisory board members. The 2008 awards will be presented in a special ceremony at the Environmental Business Journal Environmental Industry Summit VII in Coronado, Calif. in February.
