Biography
Lauren McCormack, PhD, has over 15 years of professional experience in health services research and health communication. She directs RTI's Health Communication Program. Her research focuses on promoting informed decision making through effective communication and measuring and evaluating the impact of health-related information on consumer knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors. Dr. McCormack has experience designing communication messages, developing evidence-based intervention strategies, analyzing small- and large-scale survey data sets, and employing a variety of qualitative research techniques. She directs multiple health promotion studies including an NIH R-01 to conceptualize and measure health literacy and a study to develop measures of patient-centered communication for the National Cancer Institute and Agency for Health Care Research and Quality. Dr. McCormack has presented her findings at multiple national conferences and in peer-reviewed professional journals including Health Services Research, Medical Care, Health Affairs, Health Care Financing Review, and the Journal of Health Communication.
