Fifty years ago, a group of visionary leaders set out to create a research institute in central North Carolina that would focus on solving complex scientific challenges facing our society and the world.
Since that time, thousands of dedicated RTI staff members have joined this noble effort and pledged themselves to the mission of conducting research and providing technical services that improve the human condition.
Ours is a proud story of scientific achievement, teamwork, technical innovation and the continuous pursuit of independent, objective research and services across an extraordinary and ever-expanding range of research fields. It is the story of what is today one of the world’s leading research and development organizations.
As we look back on this amazing journey, it is with deep appreciation for everyone who has contributed to our success. They are the people whose scientific and technical accomplishments during the past five decades have earned us the proud reputation we enjoy today, and whose character and legacy we draw upon as we look forward to the next 50 years.
